To qualify as an Elder Midwife, you must have been actively practicing home birth for 15 or more years and in Hawaii for a minimum of 5 years. This membership grants you the ability to vote over HIHBC matters.

As an Elder Home birth Midwife, you can be considered for appointment to the Elder council.

Requirements include:
A minimum of 5 years of continuous home birth practice in Hawai’i
Willing to serve a 3-year term and be selected through a voting process by HiHBC members on their prospective island(s).
Perform the following duties - peer review, review/respond to grievances, inter-island communication and attending annual meetings.
